[Weddings Something Old]
Weddings are a time for family celebrations. They are the start of something new, and memories of old. Surprise your grandparents with a display of family wedding cake toppers. Or collect vintage toppers and incorporate into your tablescape. This is a wonderful way to incorporate old into your wedding theme.
Start with my favorite things- peonies, and white peonies. The theme is all white accented with a touch of silver and black. Table linen is a moiré silver dust cloth. For some pop, add ribbons for you table runner. You can find great ones on sale at holiday time. Glitz this up with a pearl and rhinestone garland.
Centerpiece: White peonies and the green ladies mantle, both from my garden are adorned with a family’s wedding topper. Yes, the topper is plastic, but adding some flowers softens it and maintains it’s vintage look. Vintage cut glass salt cellars make great tea lights.
Place Setting: Basic white dinner plates with a silver salad plate. Keep it simple with a hosta leaf, and a ladies mantle sprig. Silver goblets add a mirrored glow.
Pop: Vintage cake toppers are found at flea markets, and on line. Never thought about these little treasures until I was in Amsterdam, NL. Walking along the canal,
I looked up and in the very large
canal house’s window were all these vintage wedding toppers. It looked like many generations of memories.
So, check out your grandmother’s attic and see what you find. I found one in my mother’s cousin’s cabinet!
Create another memory!
